# Storage in Blackwell ## Home Directory | Path: | /home/1/\ | |----------------|-----------------------| | Available on: | all user-facing nodes | | Default Quota: | 10G | Home directories are small personal spaces intended to store profile files (ex. bashrc) and any additional software tools you might need. If you need more space, please contact the [MSI Help Desk](mailto:help@msi.umn.edu) and request an expansion. Please include justification for an expansion in your ticket. ```{warning} Home directories may **not** store HIPAA/ePHI data. Home directories may **not** be used to share data with other users. ``` ## Project Space | Path: | /projects/regulated/\ | /projects/restricted/\ | |----------------|------------------------------------|-------------------------------------| | Available on: | ONLY on compute nodes | ONLY on compute nodes | | Default Quota: | 5T | 5T | To add additional users to your Blackwell project, email the [Blackwell team](mailto:data@msi.umn.edu) with the user’s InternetID and name. Sharing data with members outside of your project in Blackwell is forbidden. Original data can be stored in HST. Researchers are responsible for their own data. ## Local Scratch | Path: | /tmp | |----------------|-------------------| | Available on: | all compute nodes | | Default Quota: | 1.5T | - This space is scratch space local to each compute node and can be requested when launching a job as follows: - use the `--tmp ` when running the job to request this resource - A minimum of 2G must be requested per node - The limit here is based on the size of the local disk. Currently up to 1.5T can be requested per node - Data in /tmp will be erased after the job ends, so files need to be saved to a permanent location - If local scratch is not requested, /tmp will still exist but be backed by tmpfs instead of the local disk
