## Software Description

A Mathematical Programming Language (AMPL) is an algebraic modeling
language to describe and solve high-complexity problems for large-scale
mathematical computing (i.e., large-scale optimization and
scheduling-type problems).\[1\] It was developed by Robert Fourer, David
Gay, and Brian Kernighan at Bell Laboratories. AMPL supports dozens of
solvers, both open source and commercial software, including CONOPT,
Gurobi, MINOS, and SNOPT.

To load this module for use in a Linux environment, you can run the command:

	module load ampl

Depending on where you are working, there may be more than one version of ampl available.
To see which modules are available for loading you can run:

	module avail ampl
