ANSYS is used in a wide range of disciplines for solutions to mechanical, thermal, and electronic problems. There are versions of ANSYS software for both UNIX-based and Windows operating systems. ## General Linux To load this module for use in a Linux environment, you can run the command: module load ansys Depending on where you are working, there may be more than one version of ansys available. To see which modules are available for loading you can run: module avail ansys ## Citrix 1. Request access to Citrix at 2. Connect to [https://apps.umn.edu](https://apps.umn.edu/vpn/index.html) 3. Click on Desktops \> MSI Ansys to launch the desktop. 4. Launch ANSYS from: `Start Menu > All Programs > ANSYS$Version > ANSYS$Version` \$Version is the version number of that ANSYS installation. ## Licensing Info You may need to select a license to use when you first start Ansys. To do so, open the \"License Preferences\" menu (under the Tools pull-down) and select \"Use Academic Licenses\" in the \"Global Settings\" section under the Solver tab. Then click OK and close the workbench.
