# avizo ## Summary + **Module Name:** avizo + **Support Level:** Secondary Support + **Software Access Level:** Limited Licenses + **Home Page:** [https://www.fei.com/software/amira-avizo/](https://www.fei.com/software/amira-avizo/) ## Software Description Avizo software is a powerful, multifaceted tool for visualizing, manipulating, and understanding scientific and industrial data. ## General Linux To run this software interactively in a Linux environment run the commands in an [OnDemand session](https://msi.umn.edu/about-msi-services/interactive-hpc/open-ondemand): module load avizo avizo In order to run avizo 8.0 or higher, a minimum of 8 GB memory is required for your OnDemand session. For version 9.0, you will see a message about the security context. Answer "n" to the question to get Avizo to run. We are working with the vendor to remove this question. ## Citrix 1. Request access to Citrix at 2. Connect to [https://apps.umn.edu](https://apps.umn.edu/vpn/index.html) 3. Click on Desktops \> MSI Sundry to launch the desktop. 4. Launch Avizo from: `Start Menu > All Programs > Avizo > Avizo$Version` \$Version is the version number or year of the software. ## Licensing Info Avizo caches license server information locally in the file \~/.config/FEI/Avizo.conf. Check the contents of this file if you are getting license errors when starting Avizo, or if Avizo hangs for a long time when starting. The file should contain the following: [General] LICENSE_SERVER=lmavizotoken.msi.umn.edu:1716 LICENSE_STATUS=2 If your file does not match the above, you can repoint Avizo to the up-to-date license server by opening the Avizo graphical user interface and entering \'lmavizotoken.msi.umn.edu:1716\' (without the quotes) at: Help -> License Manager -> FNP license server and click \'Activate\'.
