# Restricted Software

Software packages installed on MSI machines must adhere to licensing restrictions set forth by software vendors. Due restrictions on some packages (e.g., [Comsol](./package_docs/pages/comsol.md), [Gaussian](./package_docs/pages/gaussian.md), and [Ansys](./package_docs/pages/ansys.md)), MSI users must contact [help@msi.umn.edu](mailto:help@msi.umn.edu) and request their user accounts be included in designated group(s) with permission to load and launch the software. In some instances MSI users require software-specific passwords. To obtain access to these or other restricted packages, please email the [MSI Help Desk](mailto:help@msi.umn.edu) and include your MSI username and the software title in your request.
